Pedestrian Killed in Collision

A pedestrian has died following a traffic collision with a motor vehicle in Burbank this week, the Burbank Police Department said.

On April 21, at about 1:43 p.m., police and paramedics responded to the Burbank Empire Center parking lot after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

When police officers and paramedics arrived, they found a pedestrian in the parking lot, adjacent to Sephora and Krispy Kreme, who was suffering from serious injuries. The 71-year-old man was pronounced dead by paramedics as result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the motor vehicle remained at the scene and was interviewed by traffic investigators. The investigators determined neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the collision.

The identity of the pedestrian was withheld, pending next of kin notification, the BPD said in a statement.

This collision remains under the investigation of Burbank Police Department Traffic Detective Ryan Murphy. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Murphy at (818) 238-3103.

Questions regarding this statement should be directed to Sgt. Stephen Turner at (818) 238-3240 or STurner@burbankca.gov.
