Softball: Bears, Bulldogs Victorious in League Matchups

The Burroughs High School varsity softball team overwhelmed visiting Glendale with a 14-1 Pacific League victory on April 3.

Freshman Valentina Reyes pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts, senior Emerson Coblentz pitched two scoreless innings and senior Eliza Torres pitched one inning with one strikeout. Junior Alyssa Morales went 4-for-4 with three runs and a stolen base, while senior Phoebe Spangler went 2-for-2 with a pair of triples, three runs and an RBI. Junior Chloe Centeno went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run, while freshman Chloe Zavala went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run. Sophomore Karlee Earl went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run, while freshman Alissa Cortez went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Senior Lily Essakhanian recorded a hit, an RBI and a run, while freshman Sophie Rangsiyawong produced a hit and two runs. Senior Gizelle Rangsiyawong was credited with an RBI, while sophomore Karisma Mendez walked once.

The Bears (16-4 overall, 4-0 in league) will visit Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta for a crucial league game on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Muir High in Pasadena on April 11.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs posted a 4-2 Pacific League victory over visiting Muir High of Pasadena on March 28. Individual statistics were not reported to the Leader.

Burbank (9-9, 3-1) will visit Glendale for a league game on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta on April 11.
