Softball: Kellogg Sparks Bulldogs, Bears Shut Out Hoover

The Burroughs High School varsity softball team lost at Camarillo 13-5 in a nonleague game on March 27.

Senior Emerson Coblentz pitched three innings with one strikeout, while freshman Valentina Reyes pitched three innings. Senior Phoebe Spangler recorded a triple and a run, junior Alyssa Morales finished with a double, a run and a stolen base, and sophomore Karlee Earl produced a double and an RBI. Freshman Sophie Rangsiyawong contributed a hit, a run and a stolen base, while senior Alyssa Rosales tallied a hit and an RBI. Senior Eliza Torres registered a hit and a run, while senior Skylar Vanole scored a run and stole a base.

The Bears routed host Hoover High in Glendale 16-0 in a Pacific League game on March 26 as Reyes and Torres combined to toss a perfect game.

Reyes pitched three innings with seven strikeouts, while Torres, who had a double, an RBI and two walks at the plate, pitched one inning with two strikeouts. Earl recorded a two-run home run, Vanole went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and sophomore Karisma Mendez went 3-for-3 with three runs. Junior Chloe Centeno went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI, Rangsiyawong went 2-for-4 with a double and four runs, and Morales went 2-for-2 with a double and a run. Torres finished with a double, an RBI and two walks, Spangler contributed a hit, two RBIs and a run, and freshman Alissa Cortez tallied a base hit.

Burroughs (15-4 overall, 3-0 in league) will visit Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta for a league game on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Muir High in Pasadena on April 11.

BURBANK

Burbank High School senior Belinda Lujano recorded a hit and scored a pair of runs during a nonleague game against Camarillo on March 25.

The Bulldogs snapped their four-game losing streak with an 11-1 Pacific League victory at Pasadena on March 26. Individual statistics were not reported to the Leader.

Burbank lost to visiting Camarillo 9-3 in a nonleague game on March 25 as junior Maddison Kellogg pitched 6 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts.

Senior Kara Valencia went 3-for-4, senior Eliza Bowren went 2-for-4 with a run and a walk, and junior Olivia Orozco and sophomore Kayla Orozco each tallied a double. Senior Belinda Lujano recorded a hit, two runs and a walk, while junior Charley Barnett produced a hit and a walk.

The Bulldogs (8-9, 2-1) will visit Glendale for a league game on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta on April 11.
