Baseball: Burbank, Burroughs Cruise in League Matchups

The Burroughs High School varsity baseball team no-hit host Hoover High in Glendale 17-0 in a Pacific League game on March 5. Senior Elvis Moreno pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts, while sophomore Nate Cisneros covered two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, one walk and no hits.

Senior Chris Perez went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, three runs and a stolen base, senior Connor Nestor went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and senior Nickolas Fritz went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. Junior Andrew Cosio registered a triple and two RBIs, senior Nate Chapman contributed a double, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base, and senior Dylan Conahan produced a double and a run. Senior Brian Martinez recorded a hit, three stolen bases, two RBIs and a run, while sophomores Devin Whittekiend and Logan Drossin each finished with a hit, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Junior Kyle Smith tallied a hit, two stolen bases, an RBI and a run, freshman Elliot Ross collected a hit, a run and a walk, and sophomore Jack Smith had a hit and an RBI. Senior Tommy Vournas scored a run and stole a base, senior Willan Armes walked once and scored a run, and sophomore Zack Guevara walked once.

The Bears (6-1 overall, 2-0 in league) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a league game on March 12 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting the Mustangs on March 15.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs picked up a 13-3 victory over visiting Muir High of Pasadena in a Pacific League game on March 5.

Colby Bette, who had a hit, two walks and a run, pitched 2 1/3 innings with one strikeout. Miklo Reynoso pitched a pair of scoreless innings with three strikeouts, one walk and no hits, while Taylor Pryor pitched two-thirds of an inning with no hits and one walk.

Bryant Johnson went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs, while Jake Dibie went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Jake Reyes went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Robert Snyder went 2-for-4 with a run. Thomas Angel registered a double, four RBIs and a walk, Ryan Sebastian finished with a hit and three runs, and Adrian Vasquez tallied a hit and an RBI.

Burbank suffered a 7-0 loss against visiting Arcadia in a league game on March 1.

Reyes went 2-for-3, while Johnson recorded a double. Snyder pitched 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts, while Reynoso pitched 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs (2-5 overall, 1-2 in league) will visit Glendale for a league game on March 12 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting the Nitros on March 15.
