Burbank Boys’ Soccer Suffers Goal Drought, Burroughs Tops Hoover

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Hoover High in Glendale on Jan. 30 after finishing its previous Pacific League match against visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta in a scoreless draw on Jan. 26.

The Bulldogs (7-7-5 overall, 3-6-4 in league) hosted Burroughs High for their regular season finale on Feb. 1; the league match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. The Bulldogs will compete in Division V if they qualify.

BURROUGHS

The Bears tied visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 2-2, in a Pacific League match on Jan. 30, as senior Dominic Quijada and junior Alexander Loera each scored one goal.

Burroughs posted a 3-1 league victory over visiting Hoover High of Glendale on Jan. 26, as senior Wesley Niwa, senior Joseph Earl and junior Danny Pascual each chipped in one goal.

Burroughs (6-8-1 overall, 5-7-1 in league) visited Burbank for its regular season finale on Feb. 1; the league match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bears Division VI first-round matchup will be revealed Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. when the CIF Southern Section playoff brackets are released.
