Police responded to a hotel in the 2200 block of West Empire Avenue after a man allegedly threatened workers while brandishing a machete inside a hotel room at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 19. The workers told police they were in fear for their lives. The man was safely located and arrested for weapons charges and criminal threats.

A witness contacted police and reported that she heard a woman screaming for help in an apartment building at an unknown location at about 7:40 p.m. on Jan. 16. Officers found the woman in the apartment and later, they found her boyfriend, who was hiding in the parking garage. He was arrested for domestic violence and placed on $20,000 bail.

A man was arrested for attempted burglary after he smashed the window of an apartment building in the 300 block of East Verdugo Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22. He was found with drugs and was placed on $50,000 bail.
