Bears, Bulldogs Suffer League Setbacks

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta 75-54 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 23.

Senior captain Chase Kardosh racked up 23 points, six rebounds and one assist, while junior captain Jagger Topp poured in 12 points with two assists, one steal and one rebound. Junior Landon Everhart registered seven rebounds, six points, one block and one assist, while senior Omar Payind tallied five points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Junior Elijah Orjuela chipped in three points, one rebound and one assist, while freshman Owen Everhart recorded two points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Junior Jacob Samontina finished with three rebounds and one steal, while junior Damian Arredondo, sophomore Evan Lanier and sophomore Evan Baker each collected one rebound.

Burroughs High School senior Francesco Sabato finished with three points during a Pacific League matchup against Pasadena on Jan. 19.

The Bears suffered a 68-42 league loss against visiting Pasadena on Jan. 19.

Kardosh poured in 12 points with four rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Orjuela registered nine points, two steals and one rebound. Payind contributed five points, two rebounds and one steal, while Landon Everhart recorded six rebounds, four blocks, three points and two steals. Samontina scored four points, while senior Francesco Sabato and Arredondo each chipped in three points. Baker finished with two points, two rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist, while senior Arthur Gabrieylan produced one point and one rebound. Topp was credited with four rebounds, one steal and one assist, Lanier collected three rebounds, and Owen Everhart had one rebound and one assist.

Burroughs (13-12 overall, 4-7 in league) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 30 at 5:15 p.m. before visiting Burbank for its regular-season finale on Feb. 1.

Burbank High School sophomore Anthony Jawiche recorded five points during a Pacific League matchup against Pasadena on Jan. 23.

The Bulldogs suffered a 74-32 Pacific League loss at Pasadena on Jan. 23.

Sophomore Anthony Jawiche scored five points, junior Kamran Alborzian recorded four points, and junior captain Kevin Dehbashian, junior Rami Khozahi and sophomore Cristopher Ong each chipped in two points.

Burbank lost to visiting Arcadia 69-61 in a league game on Jan. 19.

Junior Odartey Blankson racked up 19 points, nine rebounds and two assists, Alborzian finished with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal, and Dehbashian poured in 15 points with four rebounds, two steals and one block. Junior Areg Aslanyan recorded five points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, junior Arthur Ambaryan registered seven rebounds, four points, two blocks, two steals and one assist, and senior Beckett Sandaas chipped in two points and one rebound. Ong was credited with two assists and one steal, junior Aren Malekian had one assist, and Jawiche collected one rebound.

The Bulldogs (5-20, 1-10) will visit Hoover High in Glendale for a league game on Jan. 30 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High for their regular-season finale on Feb. 1.
