Burroughs Takes Home Close Victory Over Glendale

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ basketball team secured a 67-66 Pacific League victory at Glendale on Jan. 9 as junior Landon Everhart posted a double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and one assist.

Senior captain Chase Kardosh racked up 21 points, two assists, one steal and one rebound, while junior captain Jagger Topp finished with 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds and one steal. Senior Omar Payind tallied eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal, sophomore Evan Baker registered five rebounds, three points, one steal and one assist, and junior Jacob Samontina produced three points, one rebound and one assist.

Burroughs High School junior Elijah Orjuela scored three points during a Pacific League matchup against Arcadia on Jan. 8.

The Bears lost to visiting Arcadia 84-66 in a league game on Jan. 8.

Kardosh finished with 21 points, three steals and two rebounds, while Everhart registered 15 points, six rebounds, four steals, three blocks and two assists. Payind tallied 11 points, five assists, four rebounds, three blocks and two steals, while Topp contributed 10 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists. Samontina chipped in six points, two assists, one steal and one rebound, while junior Elijah Orjuela produced three points, two rebounds and one steal. Senior Francesco Sabato was credited with two assists and one steal, while sophomore Evan Lanier had one rebound.

Burroughs suffered a 72-70 loss against visiting Bravo High of Los Angeles in a nonleague matchup on Jan. 6.

Kardosh poured in 24 points with five rebounds and four assists, while Everhart recorded a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, two blocks and two assists. Payind contributed 14 points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist, while Topp finished with 12 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Samontina tallied five points, three assists and one steal, while Sabato produced six rebounds, three steals, two points and one assist. Orjuela registered one steal and one rebound, while senior Arthur Gabrieylan had one rebound.

The Bears lost at Muir High in Pasadena 89-84 in a league game on Jan. 4.

Kardosh amassed 37 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists, while Topp racked up 25 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds. Everhart tallied six points, three rebounds, two blocks and two steals, Payind registered five points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals, and Baker finished with five points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Samontina scored four points, while Orjuela chipped in two points. Lanier recorded one steal and one rebound, while Gabrieylan had one steal.

Burroughs (12-9 overall, 3-4 in league) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 16 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Jan. 19.

BURBANK

Burbank High School junior Arthur Ambaryan had one rebound and one assists during a Pacific League matchup against Muir High on Jan. 9.

The Bulldogs lost to visiting Muir High of Pasadena 77-68 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.

Junior Kamran Alborzian racked up 18 points, two steals, two rebounds and one assist, junior Odartey Blankson contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal, and junior captain Kevin Dehbashian tallied 13 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Junior Areg Aslanyan finished with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal, while sophomore Cristopher Ong chipped in three points and one rebound. Junior Arthur Ambaryan recorded one rebound and one assist, junior Aren Malekian collected one rebound, and sophomore Anthony Jawiche was credited with an assist.

Burbank narrowly lost at Eastside High in Lancaster 58-56 in a nonleague game on Jan. 6 as Blankson posted a double-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds and one steal.

Dehbashian chipped in six points, six assists, three steals, one block and one rebound, Alborzian recorded six points, five rebounds, one steal and one assist, and Ong finished with six points, one steal, one assist and one rebound. Malekian produced five points and three rebounds, Ambaryan recorded six rebounds and four points, and Jawiche registered four rebounds, two points and one assist. Junior Rami Khozahi collected two rebounds and one steal, while Aslanyan had two rebounds.

The Bulldogs suffered a 57-54 loss against visiting Hoover High of Glendale in a league game on Jan. 4.

Alborzian poured in 15 points with three rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Dehbashian recorded 11 points, three assists and two rebounds. Blankson tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Aslanyan contributed 10 rebounds, six points, two assists and one steal. Khozahi finished with six points, three rebounds, one block and one steal, Malekian chipped in three points and two rebounds, and Ong registered three points and one rebound. Ambaryan contributed four rebounds and one steal, while Jawiche had one rebound.

Burbank (5-16, 1-6) will host Glendale for a league game on Jan. 16 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Arcadia on Jan. 19.
