Burbank, Burroughs Slip Up in League Play

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost to visiting Pasadena 76-62 in a Pacific League game on Dec. 15.

Junior Odartey Blankson racked up 19 points, nine rebounds and one assist, junior Kamran Alborzian finished with 15 points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal, and sophomore Anthony Jawiche contributed 14 points and two rebounds. Junior Arthur Ambaryan chipped in seven points, five rebounds and two blocks, while sophomore Cristopher Ong tallied four rebounds, three assists, two points and two steals. Junior captain Kevin Dehbashian recorded six assists, four rebounds and one steal, junior Aren Malekian scored three points and junior Areg Aslanyan had one steal.

The Bulldogs (4-9 overall, 1-3 in league) will compete in the St. Francis Holiday Classic next week starting with a matchup against St. Bonaventure High of Ventura on Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. before resuming league play against Hoover High of Glendale on Jan. 4.

BURROUGHS

Burroughs High School junior Landon Everhart scored nine points during a Pacific League game against Crescenta Valley High.

The Bears lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta 74-54 in a nonleague game on Dec. 15.

Junior Elijah Orjuela registered 16 points, senior captain Chase Kardosh tallied 13 points and junior Jacob Samontina scored 10 points. Junior Landon Everhart chipped in nine points, while junior captain Jagger Topp finished with six points.

Burroughs (7-4, 1-2) will compete in the Santa Barbara Tournament next week, starting with a matchup against Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m., before hosting South Pasadena on Jan. 2.
