Bulldogs Snap Losing Streak, Triumph Over Pasadena

The Burbank High School varsity football team dominated visiting Pasadena 34-6 in a Pacific League game on Oct. 19.

Junior quarterback Daniel Zacariaz completed six passes for 68 yards and also rushed for 27 yards with a touchdown on six carries. Junior Max Kelley contributed 28 yards with a pair of touchdowns on four carries, while junior Pierre Cifuentes recovered a fumble and went the distance for a 93-yard touchdown.

Bulldogs junior Joseph Caballero rushed for a team-high 84 yards on 15 carries while also hauling in a pair of catches for 42 yards. Sophomore Thomas Adzhemyan had 10 carries for 68 yards, while junior Ezekiel Alvarez had two receptions for 16 yards. Senior Kindrick Lino had a 10-yard carry, senior Sean Garrett had a 6-yard catch and senior Brian Butchko went 4-for-5 in PAT attempts.

Senior Marcus Ojeil racked up 11 tackles, while junior Landon Williams recorded seven tackles. Senior Levon Bakmazian tallied six tackles and a sack, while senior Brandon Elizalde finished with six tackles. Seniors Arthur Kazanchian and Abraham Zyada each registered four tackles, while junior Justin Arteaga three tackles. Juniors Andrew Guerra and Jack Rogerson each chipped in two tackles, while senior Dylan Muriano, senior Brennan Miller and junior Aidan Miller each had one tackle.

The Bulldogs (3-6 overall, 1-3 in league) faced rival Burroughs High in the “Big Game” for their regular season finale on Oct. 27; the league game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.

The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.
