Kulikov Guides Burroughs to Crucial League Win

The Burroughs High School varsity football team secured a 32-27 victory in the Pacific League at Muir High in Pasadena on Oct. 6.

Senior quarterback Chris Kulikov completed 12 of 18 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown as well. Senior co-captain Jake Scozzola contributed to the win with three catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. Senior co-captain Ryan Hernandez had three receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. Senior Noah Frenkel rushed for 48 yards on 11 carries with a pair of touchdowns.

Senior co-captain Ethan Hubbell made two receptions for 39 yards, while junior Patrick Lima caught a 39-yard pass. Senior co-captain Santiago Sanchez recorded two carries for 9 yards, senior co-captain Alex Valenzuela made an 8-yard catch, and sophomore Matteo Tarca scored two extra point attempts.

The Bears (7-1 overall, 3-0 in league) visited Arcadia on Thursday, Oct. 12, in another key league matchup. Burroughs routed the hosts 41-7 to take sole possession of first place in the league standings. Statistics were not available following the contest, and further details of the game will be included in next week’s issue.

The Bears will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta for a league game on Oct. 20 before hosting rival Burbank for its regular season finale on Oct. 27.
