Library Throws Summer Reading Kickoff Party

All ages are welcome to the Burbank Public Library’s Summer Reading program kickoff party on Thursday, June 1, in the park, located outside of the Buena Vista Branch Library at 6 p.m.

Burbank residents are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and join library staff for activities, prizes, popsicles and a live musical performance by the the Jazz Cartel at 7 p.m.

The Jazz Cartel is a nine-piece Frank Sinatra-style swing band. Their repertoire includes fully arranged original music and beloved standards from the Frank Sinatra catalog, as well as the American Songbook.

“Summer Reading is open to all ages: babies, kids, teens, adults and seniors,” library officials said. “Our program encourages everyone to develop a habit of reading daily and helps students practice their reading skills over the summer months.”

The program runs from June 1 through July 31. For more information, visit the Burbank Public Library website.
