Bears Edge Bulldogs in Rivalry Game, 1-0

The Burroughs High School varsity softball team blanked visiting Burbank, 1-0, in an extra-inning Pacific League game last Friday.
Senior Stevie Dabbadie, who went 2-for-4 with a run, pitched a complete game shutout with six strikeouts, five hits and no walks. Senior Rachel Little went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk while junior Alyssa Rosales collected a hit, an RBI and a walk. Junior Phoebe Spangler recorded a hit and a steal, senior Lilly Lewis and freshman Karlee Earl each had a base hit, and Chloe Centeno walked once.
Burbank pitcher Maddison Kellogg allowed one earned run with four strikeouts over 7.1 innings in the circle, captain Sasha Quintanar and Belinda Lujano each had a double, and Delilah Alvarado, Kara Valencia and Samantha Cafferty each had a hit.

BURROUGHS

The Bears recently lost a nonleague game to visiting Valencia, 10-3. Lewis went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run while Spangler went 2-for-4 with a run Rosales and Centeno each went 2-for-4 while junior Emerson Coblentz had three strikeouts in a complete game effort. Morales registered a hit and an RBI, Little and Dabbadie each had a base hit, and junior JJ Barrios scored once.
First-place JBHS (18-3 overall, 7-0 in league) will visit Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta for a league game on Tuesday, April 25, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Burbank for its regular-season finale on April 27.

BURBANK

Burbank recently posted nonleague victories over Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth, 1-0, and Kennedy High of Granada Hills, 4-2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader by the Burbank coaching staff.
The fourth-place Bulldogs (13-9 overall, 3-3 in league) will host Arcadia for a league game on Tuesday, April 25, at 3:15 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High for their regular-season finale on April 27.
