Bears Beat Bulldogs in Final League Game, 75-71

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ basketball team defeated visiting Burbank, 75-71, in the Pacific League finale last Thursday as Sam Horning amassed 34 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Chase Kardosh racked up 18 points, three boards, three assists and one steal to lead the Bears while Tyrell Burrell poured in 17 points with one block and one rebound. Landon Everheart registered two points, 11 boards, two blocks and one steal, Elden Jackson tallied two points, six rebounds, one steal and one assist, and Arthur Gabrieylan scored two points with two boards and one assist. Jagger Topp collected two assists and one steal while Jacob Samontina finished with two assists and one rebound.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were led senior captain Sattwik Banerjee, who amassed 52 points, 13 boards and three steals. Junior teammate Omar Payind racked up 14 points, eight rebounds, one block and one assist.
BHS junior Mike Gutierrez finished with two points, two boards and two assists, senior Ashot Danielian tallied two points, two rebounds, one block and one steal, and senior captain Liam Baker scored one point. Sophomore Kevin Dehbashian garnered three boards and two assists, senior Steven Harutyunian collected three rebounds, freshman Evan Baker recorded two boards and one assist, and senior Nathan Figueroa had one rebound.
The Bears finished the season seventh in the league standings with a 4-10 record (10-18 overall). Burbank concluded the campaign tied with Glendale for fifth in the league standings with a 5-9 record (9-16 overall).
