Bulldogs Beat Glendale; Bears Defeat Arcadia

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated visiting Glendale, 57-49, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as senior Karen Casillas racked up a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Freshman Sahara Jackson poured in 14 points with five assists while sophomore Lauren Navarro scored nine points. Junior Nikaela Damasen tallied eight points and six rebounds while senior Rheanna Ocampo finished with six points.
The Bulldogs previously routed visiting Hoover High of Glendale in a league matchup, 73-18.
Casillas amassed a double-double with 35 points and 14 rebounds while tying the school record with nine 3-pointers in a game. Meanwhile, senior Shelby Cribbs posted a double-double with 14 points and 19 rebounds.
Third-place Burbank (15-12 overall, 9-4 in league) recently visited second-place Burroughs for its regular-season finale; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
The CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Sunday, Feb. 5, at noon.

Burroughs High School sophomore Skylar Cafferty and the Bears are second in the Pacific League standings with a 11-2 record.

The Bears defeated visiting Arcadia, 50-44, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
JBHS previously picked up a win via forfeit over Pasadena.
Second-place Burroughs (17-10 overall, 11-2 in league) recently hosted third-place Burbank for its regular-season finale; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
