Bulldogs, Bears Wrap Up League Play

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost a Pacific League game at Glendale, 65-60, on Tuesday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
The Bulldogs previously defeated visiting Hoover High of Glendale in a league matchup, 67-61, as senior captain Sattwik Banerjee posted a double-double with 19 points, 18 rebounds, three assists and one steal. Senior Steven Harutyunian racked up 13 points, five boards and two assists, freshman Evan Baker poured in 12 points with four rebounds, one steal and one assist, and junior Omar Payind registered 11 points, four boards, two assists and one steal.
Senior Ashot Danielian tallied five points, one rebound and one assist, senior Nathan Figueroa finished with five points and one board, and senior Josh Navarro recorded two points and one steal. Junior Mike Gutierrez collected two rebounds and one assist, senior Dante Shahbazian produced one steal, one board and one assist, senior captain Liam Baker had one steal and one rebound, and sophomore Kevin Dehbashian had one assist.
Fifth-place Burbank (9-15 overall, 5-8 in league) recently visited seventh-place Burroughs High for its regular-season finale; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.

Burroughs’ Sam Horning scored 20 points with six rebounds during a Pacific League game against Arcadia on Tuesday.

The Bears lost a Pacific League game at Arcadia, 83-64, on Tuesday.
Sam Horning racked up 20 points, six rebounds and two assists while Chase Kardosh poured in 15 points with one assist. Jagger Topp registered eight points, five assists and three steals while Jacob Samontina tallied eight points, four assists and three boards. Tyrell Burrell finished with five points, two rebounds and one assist, Landon Everheart recorded four points, three boards, two assists and one steal, and Elden Jackson produced four points, one rebound and one assist. Thomas Mahoney collected one block and one assist while Arthur Gabrieylan had one board.
JBHS previously lost a league matchup at powerhouse Pasadena, 71-33. Horning poured in 13 points with three rebounds while Burrell registered eight points and one steal. Topp tallied three points, one steal, one board and one assist while Samontina scored three points with one rebound and one assist. Everheart recorded two points and two boards, Jackson finished with two points and one rebound, and Francesco Sabato produced two points and one steal. Kardosh collected four boards, two assists and one steal while Mahoney had two rebounds, two assists and one block.
The seventh-place Bears (9-18 overall, 3-10 in league) recently hosted fifth-place Burbank for its regular-season finale; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
