Bulldogs Lose League Opener; Bears Game Postponed

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ water polo team lost its Pacific League opener at Hoover High in Glendale, 9-7, on Tuesday.
Senior Makala Kelley registered two goals and three steals while senior Elen Amiryan racked up 13 saves and one steal. Senior Valentina Angel finished with one goal, two steals and one assist, senior Rebecca Zakarian, junior Natalie Bislamyan and sophomore Frida Mejia each recorded one goal and one steal, and senior Karina Ghukasyan scored once.
The Bulldogs (6-7 overall, 0-1 in league) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 3:30 p.m.

BURROUGHS

Burroughs High School’s Sarah Metry and the Bears will host Glendale in a Pacific League game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 3:30 p.m.

The Bears were scheduled to host Arcadia in their Pacific League opener on Tuesday but the game was postponed when officials did not arrive at the pool, according to JBHS head coach Jacob Cook. A makeup date was not confirmed by the Burbank Leader’s press deadline.
Burroughs (6-5 overall) will host Glendale in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 3:30 p.m.
