Bulldogs Beat Pasadena; Bears Fall to Crescenta Valley

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ volleyball team won its regular-season finale against visiting Pasadena, 25-22, 27-29, 25-23, 26-24, in a Pacific League matchup on Wednesday.
Senior Quinn Cramer racked up 14 kills and seven blocks, while senior Jazmine Cobb collected 10 kills, 19 digs and five aces. Junior Raquel Fox tallied six kills, three digs, two aces and one block, junior Astoria Torres had five kills, two blocks and one dig, and junior Alison Molloy registered three kills, four digs and four aces.
Senior Jolene Ngo produced 20 digs, two aces, two assists and one kill, senior Isabella Barska finished with 18 assists, 14 digs, two aces and one kill, and senior Alyssa Ponsones registered 18 assists and six digs. Junior Addison Ritner posted three kills, three digs and two blocks, junior Olivia Romagnino had six digs, three assists and one ace, senior Liana Issaian had two digs, and senior Samantha Arteaga had one dig.

Burbank senior Jolene Ngo produced 41 digs to help the Bulldogs win their last two league matchups.

The Bulldogs won a league match on Monday at Muir High in Pasadena, 25-12, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17. Ngo amassed 21 digs, eight aces and one kill, Cramer tallied nine kills, and Fox collected six kills and one ace. Cobb recorded five digs, four aces and one kill, Ritner finished with two kills and one dig, and Torres had two kills. Barska registered nine assists, six aces and two digs, Molloy had eight aces and three digs, and Ponsones posted five assists and one ace. Issaian had four aces, while Romagnino produced four digs. Senior Sara Aslo had one dig and one ace, while Arteaga had one ace.
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Bulldogs (7-17 overall, 4-5 in league) will await the CIF-SS postseason brackets to be released on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m.

BURROUGHS
The Bears concluded Pacific League action on Tuesday by losing to visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 25-19, 25-14, 19-25, 25-23, as senior Janessa Wareebor racked up 13 kills and 16 digs. Junior Tawnie Ohrt collected nine kills and 13 digs, junior Sadie Lomet tallied seven kills, senior Elizabeth Johnson finished with six kills and senior Jessica Real produced nine digs.
The Bears previously competed in the Redondo Tournament last weekend, finishing with a 1-4 record. JBHS won its only tournament match last Saturday against Santa Monica, 25-18, 23-25, 15-10, but lost to St. Mary’s High of Inglewood earlier that day, 25-11, 25-12. The Bears lost to Palos Verdes Chadwick (25-23, 25-17), Bishop Montgomery High of Torrance (26-24, 25-18) and Lakewood (25-13, 25-8) on the first day of tournament action last Friday.
The Bears, who concluded the regular season on Friday by hosting Taft High of Woodland Hills in a nonleague match, will await the CIF-SS postseason brackets to be released on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m.
