Bulldogs Win 14th Straight; Bears Rout Muir

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ water polo team won its 14th consecutive game on Tuesday as it continues to steamroll the competition after defeating host Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, 14-6, in a Pacific League match.
Senior Zack Gezalyan led with five goals, three steals and two assists, while junior Alec Chalkdzhyan collected 10 saves. Senior Arman Hovhanissyan registered three goals, one steal and one assist, while juniors Andranik Bilbulyan and Raffi Gevorgyan each posted three assists, two steals and one goal. Sophomore Danny Agazaryan recorded one goal, two steals and one assist, while junior Hayk Atanasyan tallied one goal, one steal and one assist. Sophomore Gevorg Choginyan produced four steals and two goals, and senior Narek Abedian had two saves.
The Bulldogs previously dominated host Pasadena 23-8 in a league game, as junior Arthur Saryan racked up five goals, two steals and one assist. Zack Gezalyan posted four goals, three steals and two assists, sophomore Eric Avetisyan registered three goals and two steals, and Agazaryan had three goals, one steal and one assist. Hovhanissyan collected three goals, two steals and two assists, Atanasyan tallied four assists, two goals and two steals, and junior Michael Misakyan and Bilbulyan each had one goal, two steals and one assist. Choginyan recorded three steals and two assists, sophomore Jack Babelyan produced two assists and one steal, senior Andy Gezalyan scored once, and sophomore Greg Baboudjian had one assist. Chalkdzhyan finished with six saves, Abedian notched three saves and two steals, and sophomore Christian Lazaryan had one save and two steals.
Burbank (22-2 overall, 5-0 in league) will visit Burroughs High for an intracity rivalry league game on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 3:45 p.m.

BURROUGHS

The Bears won a Pacific League game on Tuesday at Muir High in Pasadena, 23-16, as Harrison Zekowski led with a team-high eight goals. Harrison Siegel racked up seven goals, Logan Turla collected five goals, Ian Duffield tallied two goals, and Dean Yuzna scored once. Atticus Mata had four steals, while Ryan Rolando finished with one steal.
Burroughs previously lost a league game at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, 9-4. Duffield scored three goals, Rolando had one goal, and Mata racked up 12 blocks.
JBHS (9-11 overall, 3-2 in league) will host Burbank in an intracity rivalry league matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 3:45 p.m.
