Three men and a woman from Los Angeles are in custody after fleeing a residential burglary in Burbank and leading police officers on a car pursuit Friday evening.
Last Friday, at about 9:10 p.m., BPD responded to the 3400 block of Castleman Lane regarding a possible burglary. A resident called and said he was not home but observed, via surveillance cameras, three men jump the rear fence to his yard wearing dark clothing and backpacks.
Shortly thereafter, the neighbor’s burglary alarm was activated indicating someone had broken into the home, which was later confirmed by BPD.
The Burbank/Glendale Police Joint Air Support Unit arrived overhead and spotted three men running from the rear yard of a residence, who then jumped into an awaiting vehicle, a gray Chrysler minivan. They led officers on a pursuit traveling northbound on Glenoaks Boulevard from Cabrini Drive.
During the chase, the vehicle was seen committing numerous traffic violations and reaching high speeds as it continued onto the Interstate 5. The pursuit continued north on I-5, east on state Route 118, east on Interstate 210, and south on state Route 2 before exiting onto Riverside Drive in Los Angeles. The pursuit came to an end at Gail Street and Blake Avenue in Los Angeles when the suspect’s vehicle crashed, and all occupants fled on foot.
A perimeter was established with the assistance of the Glendale Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department. Four suspects were ultimately located and arrested, three of whom were located and bit by police K9s during the apprehension.
The suspects have since been identified as residents of Los Angeles. All four suspects were booked on suspicion of residential burglary. Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
