Burbank Police Department Crime Report

Officers were flagged down in the parking lot located at the intersection of Valencia Avenue and San Fernando Road at 12:10 p.m. on Aug. 15 by an employee of Ralph’s grocery store. The employee was observed by officers to be chasing a theft suspect after the suspect, a 53-year-old man, ran out of the store without paying for merchandise. Police pursued the suspect, arrested him and booked him on $20,000 bail.

A man entered a women’s restroom at a Metrolink transit station on the 200 block of North Front Street at 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 16, stuck his head under a closed stall and attempted to grab a woman as she used the restroom. The man was located by Burbank officers, arrested and booked for sexual battery. He was placed on $25,000 bail.

Officers responded to a well-being check for a woman lying on the sidewalk on the 200 block of West Olive Avenue at 1:10 p.m. on Aug. 17. Investigation led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia stored on the woman’s person. She was subsequently arrested and placed on $1,000 bail.

A man was sitting in his vehicle on 6th Street and Sherlock Drive when an armed suspect exited a black Mercedes, which was being driven by a second suspect. The man robbed the victim at gunpoint, stealing his wallet and watch worth $10,000. Police located the suspects and arrested them at 4:50 a.m. on Aug. 18. They were placed on $100,000 bail each. Only the victim’s wallet was recovered.

A child was found by officers to have been locked inside of a parked vehicle for more than an hour, sweating. Officers broke window and rescued the child. The child’s mother was later located and arrested for child endangerment and an outstanding warrant 6:25 p.m. on Aug. 19. She was placed on $100,000 bail.

On Aug. 20 at 10:25 a.m., an agitated man ran in the street in the middle of traffic, chasing a BPD patrol vehicle, and threw an object at the patrol vehicle. The man was arrested on multiple charges of possession of drugs, drug-related paraphernalia, burglary and lying to officers.

Officers located a bag containing an assault rifle pistol. A witness observed a man drop the bag at the location on Lake Street and Western Avenue. The man was subsequently located and placed under arrest at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 21 for unlawful possession of an assault weapon and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Officers were called to a scene at an undisclosed location after a woman was reported to have pushed and grabbed her boyfriend in their apartment. The woman resisted arrest while being taken into custody for battery. She was arrested at 6:10 a.m. on Aug. 22.
