Bears, Bulldogs in League Action

The visiting Burroughs High School varsity boys’ volleyball team swept Glendale, 25-12, 25-20, 25-20, in a Pacific League matchup on Wednesday, March 30.

Junior Mark Hopkins and senior Khalib “Pucky” Lawrence led JBHS with six and five kills, respectively, while senior Christian Solano had 18 assists. Senior Kyle Truett collected four aces and sophomore Charlie Gerard registered four digs.

The Bears (21-3 overall record, 4-0 in league) are scheduled to visit Crescenta Valley High in a matchup between the league’s two remaining unbeaten teams on Wednesday, April 6, at 6 p.m.


The visiting Bulldogs lost a Pacific League matchup at Arcadia, 16-25, 13-25, 20-25, on Wednesday, March 30, as Austin Kim and Taiyo Nakao led with six and four kills, respectively. Akash Kodavati recorded two kills, while Noah Lintag, Alex Gevdzhyan and Ryan Viyar each registered one kill.

Burbank (1-7 overall, 1-3 in league) is scheduled to visit Glendale High in a league encounter on Wednesday, April 6, at 3:30 p.m.
