City Partners With L.A. Nonprofit to Develop Community Gardens

First published in the April 2 print issue of the Burbank Leader.

The city of Burbank and the Los Angeles Community Garden Council are partnering in the development of two new Burbank Community Gardens.

The partnership with the LACGC will establish appropriate guidelines and volunteer roles to successfully launch and operate the community gardens.

The LACGC, a nonprofit, has extensive experience in developing community gardens throughout Los Angeles County. LACGC is now ready to use their experience toward helping Burbank develop, grow and maintain healthy and vibrant community gardens.

LACGC is now taking applications for plots at 1141 North Pass Ave. Plots are assigned on a point system that includes residency, volunteer commitments and financial need.

Applications are due by April 15. Plot recipients will be notified starting May 1.

To apply online, visit BurbankCommunityGarden.org. Applicants who apply in person can visit the Olive Recreation Center at 1111 W. Olive Ave. between Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The community garden located at 3705 West Clark Ave. is scheduled to open in 2023.
