Burbank Defeats Intracity Rival Burroughs

The visiting Burbank High School varsity boys’ tennis team defeated its intercity rival Burroughs High, 12-6, in a Pacific League match on Wednesday, March 30.

The Bulldogs narrowly defeated visiting Crescenta Valley, 10-8, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday, March 29. No. 1 singles player Amrith Kodumuri swept his competition 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 2 singles player junior Adam Ridaoui also sweet 6-2, 6-0, 6-0. No. 3 singles player David Kerimyan picked up a pair of set wins, 6-4, 7-5, while the No. 1 tandem of Yash Desai and Adonis James Basco also won two sets, 7-6, 6-3.

Burbank moved to 7-1 overall and is scheduled to host Arcadia High in a league matchup on Tuesday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m.

BURROUGHS

The Bears lost their intercity rival Pacific League matchup to visiting Burbank, 12-6, on Wednesday, March 30.

No. 1 singles player Bernard Woods won one set, 6-0, No. 3 singles player Michael Fraser claimed a 6-4 set victory, and No. 2 singles player Markos Mkrtchyan collected one set win, 7-5. The No. 2 tandem of Zion DuMonde and Kyle Lester took one set, 6-2, the No. 1 doubles team of Bevan Mahesh and Vivek Bhakta won one of three sets, 6-3, and the No. 3 duos of Miles Howell and Kaian Bates collected one set victory 6-4

JBHS returned to action and lost a Pacific League match to visiting Arcadia High, 15-3, on Tuesday, March 29. Woods won one set handily, 6-0, while Mkrtchyan and Fraser each claimed one victory, 7-6 and 6-3, respectively.

Burroughs (3-4 in league) is scheduled to visit Crescenta Valley High in a league matchup on Tuesday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m. The Falcons edged the Bears in their previous matchup, 10-8, on March 1.
