Alan A. Landros

Date of Death

Alan was born on June 25, 1952, to Marion and Martin Landros, at California Lutheran Hospital in Los Angeles.
He was an only child and raised in Burbank, attending Burbank schools from kindergarten to high school. He graduated from Burbank High in 1970. Alan attended CSULA and received a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He pursued a career in investigation while working at Forest Lawn in Glendale. He then worked for ARCO in the executive suite. In 1982, he became a full-time care giver to both of his parents.
Alan unfortunately inherited his mother’s polycystic kidney disease, which greatly restricted his life. He was granted a second chance at a full life when his classmate, Blyden Loutensock, donated his kidney to Alan. Blyden and Alan shared a life-long unbreakable bond and celebrated the anniversary of their surgery every year.
To adequately describe Alan is a daunting task. He was a gentleman with a deep Christian faith and a car lover who enjoyed purchasing several new cars throughout his life. With his newfound good health he continued his world travels, connecting with many friends throughout the globe. He had an uncanny recall of the smallest details that happened in his life, as well as many of his friends. His love of people and his detail-oriented curiosity helped to keep the BHS Class of ’70 connected.
The unfortunate consequence of being an organ recipient is the side effects of the anti-rejection medicine that was crucial to his health. It suppressed his immune system which led to his many skin cancer surgeries, and ultimately to his stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
Alan will be deeply missed by his many, many friends from church, school, his neighborhood and life. He was definitely one of a kind.
His Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on February 6, 2024, at noon. It will be held in the Old North Church with a reception to follow. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s memory can be sent to: Senior Bulldog Foundation, P.O. Box 2092, Burbank, CA 91507. They will be giving a scholarship to a graduating BHS student in Alan’s memory this year.
