Eagle Rock Summer Concerts in the Park Begins June 30

The annual Summer Concerts in the Park in Eagle Rock is opening on Sunday, June 30, with a special double performance as well as a fireworks show.

The Eric Ekstrand Jazz Band and headlining ABBA cover band, ABBAFAB, will perform at 4 and 6:30 p.m., respectively, at the Eagle Rock Recreation Center outdoor stage. It will be followed by fireworks at 9 p.m.

The venue is located at 1100 Eagle Vista Drive in Eagle Rock. Concerts will be held each Sunday evening through the end of August. Starting July 7, all concerts will begin at 6 p.m.

“This is our 27th year of concerts and it is a perfect place to spend a Sunday evening,” said Michael Nogueira, who plays a key role in organizing the event. “It’s free, it’s for all ages and it’s safe; we have LAPD [security] presence. The music is great; every concert is going to be amazing. The sponsors, who are local people and businesses, make this all happen.”

The remainder of the summer schedule is:

• July 7: Past Action Heroes, a 1970s and ’80s cover band

• July 14: Walk Like a Man, a Jersey Boys tribute band

• July 21: Buffett Beach, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band. (The evening will also feature an on-site car show beginning at 5 p.m.)
