Rose Bowl Aquatics Center ‘Pools Together’ With Local Community

The RBAC and Madewell Pasadena invites the community to shop for a cause on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 12 – 5 p.m.
This shopping event will support the RBAC’s “Let’s Pool Together” annual campaign with a percentage of each Madewell Pasadena purchase directly benefiting the RBAC. The funds raised ensure the RBAC can maintain the facility, fund scholarships for those with limited financial resources, and support the Pasadena Unified School District Water Safety Program. Join the RBAC and Madewell Pasadena to help the RBAC reach its campaign goal of $300,000.
The RBAC is also excited to partner with Panda Express on the “Back to Pool Day” celebration for the PUSD Water Safety Program on Nov. 20. Panda Express will be fueling the celebration for current PUSD 3rd-graders that have completed the program with some of their Panda favorites. The celebration allows students to show off their skills and swim with their families. The Water Safety Program provides swimming lessons and water safety education for every student enrolled in PUSD. This donor and grant-funded program is especially beneficial to students that may not otherwise have access to learn these life-saving water safety skills. Almost 30,000 students have participated in this program since its inception.
Also in November, the RBAC is supporting Friends in Deed, with collections for their food pantry. The RBAC is currently seeking donations to provide meals for families in need. Bring shelf-stable items to the front desk to donate to the food pantry. Friends in Deed is an interfaith organization that provides supportive services to meet basic human needs and to support our homeless and at-risk neighbors in rebuilding their lives. Friends in Deed is currently providing food to about 500 families every week.
“The health and well-being of our community have a direct effect on all of us, and we are all connected in making a difference in the communities we serve,” said Jimmy Francis, executive director of the RBAC. “Following our awesome effort to break the Guinness World Record for the largest aqua aerobics class in history, we have great momentum in support of our annual campaign. We have rallied the local community to be a part of the work we do at the RBAC, and we are excited to do our part to give back.”
