Regina Denise Carter
Date of Death

Regina Denise Norman Carter passed away March 17, 2022, surrounded by family after a fearless and almost two-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Denise was born July 24, 1959, in Burbank, California, to Melvin and Pat Norman. She moved back to North Carolina closer to her father and other family in 1994 after her mother’s passing. She finalized adoption of her new family on February 17, 2001, when she married her husband, Mike, and his three kids Elizabeth, Martha and Will.

She quickly and completely supported and loved this new family as her own. She shared her love and never-ending support of her family throughout her life, and demonstrated her pride and enjoyment of time spent with them until the very end.

Denise was also a great friend, beloved by so many. She kept in touch with them closely throughout the different stages of her life. She savored the little things in life that can easily be taken for granted, like her morning cup of coffee, decorating her home for every season and holiday imaginable, and sharing many laughs with people she spent time with.

She and Mike built a home on Lake Rhodhiss in Valdese, North Carolina, in 2014. They have enjoyed sharing the “Lake Life” experience with others at every possible opportunity.

Denise was dealt a tough hand in July 2020 with her cancer diagnosis. Though she may have lost her battle, she certainly did not let this disease beat her despite the overwhelming odds at every step. She demonstrated an unrelenting effort to overcome her condition over such a long period that should serve as an inspiration to all.

Throughout this struggle, she continued to maintain strong faith in the Lord. She truly enjoyed her life with friends and family, and fought to preserve that as long as possible. She luckily was able to enjoy many precious moments with her family and friends, even after her diagnosis and tough fight began. Denise and Mike’s relationship and love only deepened further throughout this experience.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Melvin D. and Patricia Dawn Norman (Harris), and sister Karen Moffa.

She is survived by her best friend and husband, Michael Vincent Carter; son and daughter-in law Will and Anne Carter; daughter Martha Carter; daughter and son-inlaw Elizabeth and Taylor Adams; brother-in-law Ric Moffa; and niece Nicole Moffa Habitz and husband Kevin.
