Cheryl Jo Joneson | Obituary

Cheryl Jo Joneson
Date of Death

Cheryl Jo Joneson passed away peacefully at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, California, on March 10, 2022, at the age of 69.

Cheryl was born on June 30, 1952 in Slayton, Minnesota and was the second eldest of ten children, born to Donald and Mariett Wahl. In 1960, the family left Minnesota, and moved west to Burbank, California. She met her late husband and the love of her life, Ted Charles Joneson II, at work while still attending John Burroughs High School. After graduation, they married on October 24, 1970, and together they raised their son, Teddy.

Some of Cheryl’s most cherished memories were vacations with her family, especially day trips to Disneyland with her grandchildren, Tucker and Madison. She loved going to the family vacation home in Bear Valley Springs with her son, Teddy and daughter-in-law, Angie, where they spent time over the years, hiking, going to the lakes, watching the wildlife and creating more memorable adventures together. Cheryl enjoyed wine tastings and chili cook-offs with her siblings and extended family. She looked forward to the time of year when she and Ted traveled to Hawaii to celebrate their wedding anniversary, play golf, sightsee, and Cheryl’s all-time favorite hobby, shopping!

Cheryl’s impressive and successful career in healthcare spanned more than 40 years. Her many contributions to the industry and her loyal and unwavering support of her clients, will be a great loss to the field she helped establish. She was a key contributor in the groundbreaking Federal Court of Appeals case ruling that enabled teaching hospitals to receive reimbursement. Cheryl was well respected by her co-workers and clients and after her long career, she retired as vice president from Price Fass & Co. at the end of 2021.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Ted C. Joneson III; daughter-in-law, Angie (Petzoldt) Joneson; two grandchildren, Tucker and Madison; her six sisters, DeAnn Justesen, Rhonda Reiner, Susan Angel, Jan McCarter, Sandy Puatu, and Robin Cessna; her brother, Jim Wahl; many aunts and uncles; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; cousins; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted; parents, Donald and Mariett Wahl; sister, Tamara Wahl-Duprey; and brother, Timothy Wahl.

Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church 2400 W. Burbank Blvd., Burbank CA. 91506 at 11:30 a.m., with a graveside service to follow immediately after at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles CA. 90068 at 1:30 p.m.
