Vice Mayor to Chair Tri-City Regional Housing Trust

Burbank Vice Mayor Nikki Perez has been named chair of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Regional Housing Trust.

The trust, established in 2022 by Senate Bill 1177 authored by state Sen. Anthony Portantino, funds housing for extremely low- to moderate-income families and homeless individuals in the three cities.

“Our residents have made it clear that they want decisive action on the housing crisis,” said Perez in a press release. “The $3.45 million grant we secured for the development of the Homeless Solutions Center in Burbank is the first step in providing services that meet the needs of our unhoused population and a shining example of how through combining our resources we can make meaningful change and deliver results for our community.”

The BGPRHT will play a crucial role in addressing the pressing issue of housing insecurity within the tri-cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena. This collaborative effort aims to provide sustainable and supportive housing solutions for the community’s most vulnerable populations.

At its May meeting, the trust’s board approved a $3.45 million grant for a multipurpose Homeless Solutions Center in Burbank. The project aligns with Burbank’s five-year homelessness plan. The trust aims to address housing insecurity in Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena through collaborative efforts.
