Bulldogs, Bears Narrowly Lose League Games

The Burbank High School varsity baseball team was edged by visiting Arcadia, 2-1, in an extra inning Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Julian Gonzalez went 3-for-3 while Miklo Reynoso went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Colby Bette allowed one unearned run on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings, Danny Edwards pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Ben Castillo, who had a hit and a walk at the plate, pitched a perfect inning of relief with a strikeout. Bryant Johnson walked and scored once, and Jimmy Cafferty and Dylan Wierbilis each walked once.

The Bulldogs were previously no-hit by visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta in a league game, 9-0. Cafferty took the loss but racked up eight strikeouts over five innings while Robert Snyder pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Danny Betancourt walked once and stole a base while Wierbilis walked once.

Fourth-place Burbank will visit Burroughs for a league game on Tuesday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. before hosting the Bears for its regular-season finale on April 28.

BURROUGHS

The Bears narrowly lost at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, 2-1, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. JBHS previously lost an extra-inning league game against visiting Arcadia, 3-1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader by the Burroughs coaching staff.
The third-place Bears (11-9 overall, 7-4 in league) will host Burbank for a league game on Tuesday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. before visiting the Bulldogs for their regular-season finale on April 28.
