Burroughs Beats Arcadia in 8th Straight Win

The Burroughs High School varsity softball team matched its season-best win streak at eight games after defeating visiting Arcadia, 6-1, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. The first-place Bears have won 16 of their last 17 games since February while improving to 17-2 overall (6-0 in league).
Senior pitcher Stevie Dabbadie, who went 3-for-3 with a run, racked up nine strikeouts in a complete game performance with six hits, one walk and one earned run. Junior Phoebe Spangler went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs while sophomore Chloe Centeno went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Senior Rachel Little had a base hit, sophomore Alyssa Morales scored twice and stole a base, junior JJ Barrios scored a run and junior Alyssa Rosales walked once.
JBHS swept host Dos Pueblos High in Goleta in a nonleague doubleheader last Saturday after winning the matinee matchup, 7-1. Junior Emerson Coblentz twirled a complete game with eight strikeouts, four hits, one walk and one earned run. Centeno went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run, Little went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and junior Skylar Vanole went 2-for-3. Rosales produced a double and a run, junior Gizelle Rangsiyawong registered a hit, two runs and an RBI, and junior Eliza Torres and Barrios each tallied a hit and an RBI. Centeno and Dabbadie each finished with a hit and a run while Spangler scored once.
The Bears defeated opened its doubleheader with a 5-3 win over Dos Pueblos as Dabbadie, who went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs, finished with eight strikeouts in a complete game. She allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks. Rosales went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a walk while Little went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Spangler tallied a double, a run and a walk while senior Lilly Lewis record a hit, an RBI and a run. Morales had a base hit, Vanole scored once and Rangsiyawong walked once.
Burroughs previously blanked host Muir High in Pasadena in a league game, 12-0. Dabbadie pitched three perfect innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win while Coblentz had three strikeouts over two innings in relief. Spangler slugged a home run with two RBIs and a run while Little went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs, two RBIs and a walk. Centeno went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs while Rangsiyawong went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Freshman Karlee Earl recorded a triple, an RBI and a run while Morales tallied a double, a run and a stolen base. Lewis registered a hit, two runs, an RBI and a walk while Piper finished with a hit, a run and a stolen base.
JBHS will host Valencia for a nonleague game on Monday, April 17, at 3:30 p.m. before resuming league action at Arcadia on April 20.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs lost at Camarillo, 7-0, in a nonleague game on Wednesday.
Junior Belinda Lujano went 2-for-3 with a double, junior Kara Valencia tallied a hit and a walk, and senior Shelby Cribbs had a base hit. Sophomore Samantha Cafferty walked twice while senior Samantha Buckley and junior captain Eliza Bowren each walked once.
Burbank previously lost a pair of nonleague games on the road at Vasquez High in Action, 8-5, and Royal High in Simi Valley, 5-1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
The fourth-place Bulldogs (11-8 overall, 3-2 in league) will visit Kennedy High in Granada Hills for a nonleague game Saturday at 11 a.m. before hosting Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth on April 17.
