The Burbank High School varsity baseball team blanked visiting Hoover High of Glendale, 10-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as senior Ben Castillo went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base.
Colby Bette, who had a hit and an RBI, struck out seven batters with two hits and one walk over four scoreless innings while Robert Snyder pitched a perfect inning of relief. Jimmy Cafferty recorded a hit, two runs, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk, Danny Betancourt tallied a hit, two RBIs and a stolen base, and Miklo Reynoso finished with a hit, three runs and a walk. Dylan Wierbilis produced a hit, two stolen bases, an RBI and a run while Bryant Johnson registered a hit, an RBI and a walk. Julian Gonzalez had two walks, two runs and two stolen bases while Joe Maslyk walked once and scored.
The Bulldogs previously lost to Narbonne High of Harbor City, 6-4, in a nonleague game. Cafferty recorded a double, an RBI, a run and a walk while Snyder had two strikeouts over two hitless and scoreless innings. Maslyk produced a hit and two RBIs while Johnson finished with a hit, an RBI and a run. Ryan Sebastion tallied a hit and two walks while Bette registered a hit and a walk. Betancourt walked once, stole a base and scored a run, Wierbilis walked once and Gonzalez scored once.
Burbank (8-3 overall, 5-2 in league) will host Venice High of Los Angeles for a nonleague game on Friday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m., before visiting Saugus on April 8.
The Bears lost to visiting Pasadena, 5-4, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. JBHS previously defeated Hart High of Newhall, 4-2, in a nonleague game. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader by the Burroughs coaching staff.
The Bears (6-6 overall, 3-1 in league) will open a two-game league series at Glendale on Tuesday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m.
