Ascencia Honors Local Residents

Ascencia will hold its 15th annual gala on Saturday, April 22, at City Club L.A., where the organization will honor this year’s Ambassador of Hope Award honorees, Tammy and Steve Mora of MCS Burbank, while raising funds for the life-saving services that Ascencia has provided to people experiencing homelessness during the past 16 years.
As its largest fundraiser, Ascencia’s 2023 theme is “We Rise Together” ― which is fitting “as our agency relies on our individual donors, corporate sponsors, government grantors, foundation contributors, community partners and those of you who volunteer to lift up our community,” said Executive Director Laura Duncan. “We simply cannot do what we do without the help of our generous supporters.”
The community’s support at the April gala will help Ascencia to lift more people out of homelessness.
The Ambassador of Hope Award, which will be given to the Moras at the event, is bestowed upon an organization, volunteer or business that has gone above and beyond the call of public service duty in providing support for Ascencia’s mission.
The pair, year after year, have donated Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of their permanently housed clients. Ascencia said this support is crucial at a time when so many face serious food insecurities.
Additionally, the Moras generously aid Ascencia financially, and have donated an 8-foot Christmas tree for the organization’s community and dining room for its residents to enjoy.
When asked why they support Ascencia, Steve Mora said: “Ascencia represents the loving care and commitment to helping our communities that Tammy and I care deeply about.”
