Rain Wreaks Havoc on High School Athletic Schedules

The rainstorms last weekend and earlier this week have wreaked havoc with many high school athletic teams, causing postponements which will have a ripple effect on teams’ schedules throughout the next several weeks.
The storm which arrived last Friday caused postponements of virtually all outdoor sporting events at local high schools. That was followed by a storm on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, which created even more of a backlog in postponed games. (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are three of the busiest days for after-school high school athletics; all three of those days were rain-soaked days.)
The schools’ coaches and athletic directors are working on rescheduling many of the contests that had been rained out. With the schools now in league competition, the games are more important to get rescheduled than nonleague contests would have been if the rains had washed out games last month.
With more rain scheduled for this coming week, high school athletic schedules could be in more turmoil.
