Bears Edge Hoover; Bulldogs Beat Muir

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ soccer team defeated host Muir High in Pasadena, 3-1, in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday.
Senior Davit Stepanyan recorded one goal and one assist, seniors Erik Gharibian and Garik Kirakosyan each scored once, and junior George Atallah was credited with an assist.
The Bulldogs previously tied an intracity rivalry league game against visiting Burroughs High, 1-1. Senior Giancarlos Vitery Suman tallied one goal while senior Gabriel Mier had one assist.
Burbank hosted Arcadia in a league contest yesterday; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The third-place Bulldogs (8-4-3 overall, 4-2-3 in league) will visit fifth-place Pasadena for a league rematch on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3:30 p.m. Burbank previously won 3-1 against Pasadena in its first matchup on Jan. 3.

BURROUGHS

Burroughs High School’s Sebastian Ulloa and the Bears defeated Hoover High in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.

The Bears edged host Hoover High in Glendale, 2-1, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as junior Jason Mejia and sophomore Alex Loera each scored one goal.
JBHS previously tied host Burbank, 1-1, in an intracity rivalry league matchup as junior Dominic Quijada had one goal.

The fourth-place Bears (7-6-2 overall, 3-4-2 in league) will visit league-leading Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3:30 p.m. JBHS was shut out, 1-0, in its first game against CVHS on Jan. 3.
