Bears, Bulldogs Compete in Pacific League Finals

The Burroughs High School girls’ and boys’ varsity cross-country teams competed in the Pacific League finals at Arcadia County Park last Thursday.
The girls’ team finished third with 71 points while having three runners finish within the top 10.
Sophomore Isabella Galustians (17:54.2) and senior Vivienne Cannon (17:54.8) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to lead the Bears in the 3-mile race, while junior Mackenzie Monahan (18:19.4) placed ninth out of 37 total runners. Freshman Amy Harkins (21:37.5) and sophomore Anya Kallianpur (22:36.7) finished 26th and 27th, respectively, while sophomores Makayla Victoria (25:32.3) and Kayla Cabral (26:03.6) placed 35th and 36th, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Bears boys’ team also tallied a third-place finish with 94 points. Freshman Liam Ellingsworth (16:22.3) and sophomore Danny Camacho (16:24.9) led the pack with 15th and 16th place finishes, respectively, sophomore Justin Cano (16:33.8) placed 19th and sophomore Christopher Miguel (16:48.4) was 21st. Freshman Nathan Marca (17:00.0), senior Frank Beckett (17:01.2) and freshman Soren Khitikian (17:11.8) finished as a pack in 23rd, 24th and 25th, respectively.
JBHS will compete in the CIF Southern Section prelims on Saturday, Nov. 12.

BURBANK
The Burbank varsity cross-country teams competed in the Pacific League finals at Arcadia County Park last Thursday. The girls’ team placed fourth with 88 total points, as sophomore Amelie Guyot (17:42.3) led the team with a second-place finish in the 3-mile race.
Junior Ashely Sosa (19:40.1) placed 16th while senior Maria Barajas (20:21.4) finished 21st. Sophomore Leah Yaghoobov (20:52.7) and senior Nicole Mireles (21:00.5) posted 24th and 25th place finishes, respectively, while junior Annika Basco (22:44.0) was 28th.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs boys’ team also earned a fourth-place finish with 94 total points as junior Ricardo Mujica (15:00.3) led the team with an eighth-place finish. Junior Sanjay Dhamodharan (16:29.5) placed 18th, while seniors Isaac Arroyo (16:39.1) and Christopher Camarena (16:54.9) finished 20th and 22nd, respectively. Junior William Klein earned 26th with a 17:16.4 time, while seniors Kyle Deng (17:45.4) and Ejmin Hartoonian (17:55.8) placed 28th and 30th, respectively.
Burbank will compete in the CIF Southern Section prelims on Saturday, Nov. 12.
