Bears Win 2nd Straight League Game

The Burroughs High School varsity football team won its second consecutive Pacific-Upper League game after beating visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 35-25, last Friday.
Junior Chris Kulikov completed 18-of-27 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns while adding 24 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine attempts. Junior Jake Scozzola made six receptions for 94 yards and three touchdowns, while senior Marcus Manahan rushed for 19 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Senior Dilan Webster made four catches for 54 yards and rushed for 9 yards on two carries. Junior Ethan Hubbell had four receptions for 42 yards and made four tackles on defense. Junior Ryan Hernandez had four catches for 14 yards while adding three tackles and two interceptions on defense. Junior kicker Brodie Kemp went 5-for-5 in PAT attempts.
Senior Ricky Garcia racked up 18 tackles, senior Brian Noguchi registered 12 tackles, and junior Santiago Sanchez recorded 10 tackles. Junior Alex Valenzuela finished with six tackles, while junior Jayden Mowery made four tackles. Senior Reznor Reeves, senior Collis Lurie, senior Anthony Solis-Torrico, junior Anthony Rodriguez and sophomore Braden Turner each had three tackles. Senior Dillon Barnes, junior Brody Beebe, junior Reese Shuton and sophomore Patrick Lima each had two tackles, while senior Jarrod Dilig, junior Jaelin Smith, junior Sonny Arana and sophomore Colin Jimenez each had one tackle.
The Bears hosted Arcadia in a league contest on Friday; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. JBHS (6-2 overall, 2-1 in league) will conclude the regular season by hosting Burbank (1-2 in league) in an intracity rivalry league game on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.
