Police Arrest Robbery Case Suspects

First published in the Sept. 17 print issue of the Burbank Leader.

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with an armed street robbery that took place last month.
On Aug. 28, at about 11:45 p.m., Burbank Police responded to McCambridge Park, 1515 North Glenoaks Blvd., regarding a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.
Five victims told officers they were congregating in a parking lot near Andover Drive when a man with a handgun approached them and demanded their personal property. Fearing for their lives, the victims complied with his demands, turned over their personal property and fled the scene.
The armed robber then entered the passenger side of a vehicle and fled. Officers were unable to locate either suspect at the time the crime was reported. After utilizing surveillance video and other evidence to uncover leads, they successfully identified two suspects in the case this week.
On Wednesday, at about 4:10 p.m., Burbank Police detectives arrested the suspect responsible for the armed robbery during a traffic stop at Branford Street and Glenoaks Boulevard, in Sun Valley. Following the arrest, detectives served a search warrant at the suspect’s Sun Valley home, which led to the recovery of two firearms and property stolen from the victims at McCambridge Park.
It was there that officers located the second suspect, the getaway driver, along with evidence of identity theft and a large quantity of methamphetamine. The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old and 47-year-old Sun Valley residents.
Both were arrested and booked for multiple counts of armed robbery. One suspect is being held in lieu of $700,000 bail and the other is being held without bail. Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
They were both scheduled to appear in court Friday.
