Bulldogs, Bears Fall in Nonleague Matches

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ volleyball team dropped a nonleague match at Chatsworth, 25-19, 25-15, 25-14, on Tuesday.
Astoria Torres collected three kills and two blocks, while Quinn Cramer finished with one kill and seven blocks for the Bulldogs. Jolene Ngo tallied two aces, one kill and 10 digs, Jasmine Cobb produced two aces, two kills, one block and four digs, Alison Molloy registered one ace, one kill and one dig, and Raquel Fox posted one ace, one kill, one block and one dig. Kiara Bolger and Olivia Romagnino recorded eight and seven digs, respectively, Alyssa Ponsones logged four assists and three digs, and Isabella Barska had two assists.
The Bulldogs previously lost a nonleague matchup to visiting San Marino, 15-25, 25-19, 25-8, 25-21, last Thursday. Cramer led with nine kills, nine blocks and two digs, while Cobb registered seven kills, one ace, one block and 15 digs. Addison Ritner logged three kills, one block and two digs, Torres finished with two kills and two blocks, and Yara Khozahi notched two kills and four digs. Ngo produced three aces, two assists and 18 digs, Ani Morisisyan collected three aces and 11 digs, and Fox recorded three aces and one block. Barska had nine assists and three digs, Ponsones tallied one ace and 11 digs, Romagnino posted eight digs and Liana Issaian had one dig.
Burbank (1-8 overall) will have a Pacific League match at Pasadena on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

BURROUGHS
The Bears recently lost a nonleague match at Granada Hills Charter School, 25-16, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16, on Tuesday. Junior Sadie Lomet collected a team-high nine kills, senior Janessa Wareebor tallied eight kills and senior Elizabeth Johnson had seven kills.
JBHS was previously swept in a nonleague matchup at South Hills High in West Covina, 25-18, 25-12, 25-16, last Thursday. Wareebor produced six kills, while Lomet registered four kills.
Burroughs (2-6 overall) opened Pacific League play by hosting Arcadia yesterday; the result was unavailable by the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bears will visit Hoover High in Glendale on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 3:30 p.m.
