Bulldogs, Bears Face Nonleague Competition

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ volleyball team suffered its seventh straight loss after falling to visiting Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles, 25-13, 25-5, 25-19, on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs previously hosted the two-day Burbank Tournament but were swept in all three of their matches. Burbank ended tournament play with a 25-21, 25-21 loss to Providence and a 25-19, 25-23 loss to Highland High of Palmdale on Saturday. The Bulldogs opened tournament play by falling to Valencia, 25-10, 25-17, last Friday. No individual statistics were reported to the Burbank Leader.
Burbank (0-7 overall) will visit Chatsworth in a nonleague matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 4 p.m.

BURROUGHS

The Bears collected a thrilling five-set victory over visiting Santa Clarita Christian High of Canyon Country, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12, in a nonleague match last Thursday.
Senior Elizabeth Johnson registered 12 kills, Tawnie Ohrt and Janessa Wareebor each tallied 11 kills, and Sadie Lomet finished with nine kills.
JBHS (2-4 overall) will visit Granada Hills Charter High for a nonleague match on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 4:45 p.m.
