On behalf of the Burbank Arts and Education Foundation, welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Whether you nudged a reticent kindergartner, or grabbed a goodbye hug from an excited 7th grader on day one, we hope you enjoyed your summer and share our excitement for the shiny new school year ahead.
The foundation is especially proud to share some awesome news. Last spring we partnered with the Burbank Unified School District to purchase ukuleles, strings and tuners for the seven elementary schools that did not yet have these instruments. So, this fall, every elementary school student will have district-wide instrumental music instruction for the first time in decades. We hope this is only the beginning of increased, equitable arts access that inspires you to donate and us to give more as future needs are identified. The Burbank Arts and Education Foundation strongly believes that every child deserves an exceptional-quality public education.
Join us for our annual State of the Schools Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. for a virtual event that will highlight teacher and student achievements and BUSD and Board of Education goals for this school year. We are so fortunate to live in a community deeply invested in public education, rich in creativity and expertise and generous in resources critical to the success of our students.
