Bears Beats CV 9-4; Bulldogs Blanked by Arcadia

The Burroughs High School varsity softball team avoided a season sweep at Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta by defeating the Falcons, 9-4, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.

Junior Stevie Dabbadie, who tallied a double and three RBIs at the plate, earned the win after allowing four runs (two earned) across 6.2 innings pitched. She permitted seven hits and seven walks with four strikeouts.

Sophomore Gizelle Rangsiyawong collected a pair of base hits and three RBIs. Junior Rachel Little registered two base hits and a run scored, senior Kelsey Acosta tripled and scored twice, and senior Isabella Scozzola recorded a base hit, two runs scored and an RBI. Senior Gigi Garcia and sophomore Mia Ramirez each had a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, senior Kiley Christopher produced a base hit, and senior Arley Pena scored a pair of runs.

The Bears (18-9 overall record, 7-5 in league) narrowly lost a league game at Arcadia, 7-5, on last Thursday. Garcia was perfect at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored, while Little went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Rangsiyawong added a pair of base hits and an RBI, Scozzola posted a base hit and a run scored, and senior Kaynan Chrysikos notched a base hit.

JBHS, ranked No. 6 in this week’s CIF-SS Division IV poll, concluded its regular season with an intracity rivalry game at Burbank on Thursday, April 28; the result was unavailable by the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bears, tied with Pasadena for third in the league standings, will learn their postseason fate when the CIF brackets are released on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs were shut out by visiting Arcadia in a Pacific League game, 10-0, on Tuesday. Visiting Burbank previously dropped a league game at Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 9-4, last Thursday. No individual statistics were reported to the Burbank Leader.

The Bulldogs (12-15 overall, 5-7 in league) concluded their regular season with an intracity rivalry game against visiting Burroughs on Thursday.
