The Burbank High School varsity boys’ tennis team defeated its intracity rival Burroughs, 13-5, at home in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday.
Burbank’s No. 1 singles player Amrith Kodumuri swept his Bulldogs competition, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1, while No. 2 singles player Adam Ridaoui also swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0.
Meanwhile for Burroughs, each singles player picked up one victory, as No. 3 singles player Michael Fraser won 6-2. No. 1 singles player Bernard Woods and No. 2 singles player Markos Mkrtchyan tallied 6-2 and 6-3 victories, respectively.
The Bulldogs tallied seven set wins in doubles completions, led by the No. 1 team of Adonis Basco and Yash Desai, who swept 6-0, 6-2, 6-0. Meanwhile, the No. 2 tandem of Mark Lin and Christopher Krikorian won a pair of sets 6-0, 6-1, while the No. 3 duo of Simon Akopyan and Blake Lewis collected two victories, 7-5, 6-3.
Burroughs’ No. 2 team of ion DuMonde and Kaian Bates logged the only two doubles victories, 6-4, 6-2.
Burbank (9-2 league record) will travel to JBHS (3-7 in league) for the individual league prelims competition, which begins on Monday, April 25, at 1 p.m.
