Bulldogs Dominate Glendale; Bears Edged by CVHS

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ tennis team earned a dominant 17-1 victory over visiting Glendale High in a Pacific League match on Tuesday.

Junior Adam Ridaoui and freshman Amrith Kodumuri swept their three singles sets 6-0, while freshman David Kerimyan won two of three sets 6-0.

The doubles teams were virtually perfect as they never dropped a set. Senior Yash Desai and sophomore Adonis Basco swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-1; seniors Christopher Krikorian and Mark Lin won 6-0, 6-1, 6-2; and sophomore Simon Akopyan and Dominic Aleman won three sets 6-1, 6-1, 5-7.

The Bulldogs (2-0 in league) are scheduled to host Arcadia in a league matchup on Tuesday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m.

BURROUGHS

The Bears suffered a narrow loss to visiting Crescenta Valley, 10-8, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday. Burroughs’ singles players were nearly perfect, but the doubles teams tallied zero victories as the Falcons edged the Bears.

Bernard Woods swept his three singles sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-2, while Markos Mkrtchyan also swept 6-0, 6-2, 6-4. Michael Fraser won two of three singles sets 6-1.

Burroughs (2-1 in league) will visit Pasadena for a league match on Tuesday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m.
