Bears Suffer Playoff Loss in Double OT, 15-13

The John Burroughs High School varsity girls’ water polo team was eliminated by visiting Anaheim Esperanza in double overtime, 15-13, in a first-round CIF Division 3 playoff game on Tuesday. No individual statistics were reported to the Leader.

The Bears concluded their winning season as Pacific League champions after posting a 7-1 record (11-5 overall). JBHS athletic director Keith Knoop said that it was the team’s first league title.

The Bulldogs finished their season after narrowly losing to Hoover High of Glendale on Thursday, Feb. 3.

Burbank tied Hoover for sixth place in the Pacific League standings while finishing 9-11 overall (2-5 in league).
