Burroughs, Burbank Head to CIF Postseason

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ basketball won its regular-season finale at Valencia Trinity Classical Academy, 61-50, in a nonleague game on Friday, Feb. 4, as three Bulldogs finished with double-digit figures.

Junior Karen Casillas led with a team-high 17 points, senior Tabitha Cruz scored 16 points and senior Christina Ohanians collected 13 points. Junior Rheanna O’campo added six points on two 3-pointers, senior Alle Tarvirdi finished with five points, senior Emily Megerdichian scored once from behind the arc and sophomore Nikaela Damasen had one point.

The Bulldogs, who finished third in the Pacific League standings with a 5-2 record (12-7 overall), are scheduled to visit Ventura Foothill Technology (16-11 overall) in a first-round CIF-SS Division 3A matchup at Ventura College today at 5 p.m. If victorious, Burbank will play either Rowland High of Rowland Heights (17-7 overall) or Huntington Beach Edison (9-18 overall) in a second-round contest on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The Bears lost their regular-season finale to visiting Santa Monica, 50-40, in a nonleague game on Friday, Feb. 4.
Senior Noor Fahs posted 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, junior Rachel Little scored 13 points and junior Isabella Roderick collected five points and seven boards.

The Bears, who finished as Pacific League runner-up with a 6-1 record (21-6 overall), are scheduled to host Flintridge Preparatory School (15-6 overall) in a first-round CIF-SS Division 2AA matchup on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. If Burroughs wins, it will advance to the second round and play either Saugus (15-11 overall) or San Pedro Rolling Hills Prep (13-6 overall) on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
